This AAA Passive Cell Battery is used to replace a real AAA battery in flameless LED candles and other electronic devices that uses two or more AAA batteries. This AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery is one component of an overall Battery Eliminator solution which consists of a AAA Active Dummy Cell Battery (part number AAA-DUMMY-ACTIVE), one or more AAA Passive Dummy Cell Batteries (this component - quantity depends on the number of regular batteries required by the electronic device), and an AC to DC Wall Power Adapter (DC output voltage depends on the number of batteries used by the electronic device). This AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery has an internal short-circuit between the (+) terminal and the (-) terminal. This internal short-circuit connection is needed to complete the circuit necessary in the electronic device when used in conjunction with a AAA Active Dummy Cell Battery.
This AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery is the same size as a real AAA battery, so it fits in one of the battery spaces in the battery compartment. It doesn't matter which space it goes into, and the correct polarity doesn't necessarily need to be observed, but the mechanical fit will be best if the correct polarity is observed since the spring terminals in the battery compartment are designed to work best when the battery is inserted with the correct mechanical orientation.
As an example, suppose you want to eliminate 2 x AAA batteries. You will need 1 x AAA Active Dummy Cell Battery, 1 x AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery (this component) and an AC to DC Wall Power Adapter that supplies the appropriate power for electronic devices that use 2 x AAA batteries. Since each regular AAA battery supplies 1.5VDC, two AAA batteries will supply 3VDC, so you would need an AC to DC Wall Power Adapter that supplies an output voltage around 3VDC (3.3VDC is also acceptable).
As another example, suppose you want to eliminate 3 x AAA batteries. You will need 1 x AAA Active Dummy Cell Battery, 2 x AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery (this component) and an AC to DC Wall Power Adapter that supplies the appropriate power for electronic devices that use 3 x AAA batteries. Since each regular AAA battery supplies 1.5VDC, three AAA batteries will supply 4.5VDC, so you would need an AC to DC Wall Adapter that supplies an output voltage around 4.5VDC (5VDC is also acceptable).
NOTE(S): This is not a real battery and will not power an electronic device on its own. It needs to be used in conjunction with the other necessary components that make up a complete Battery Eliminator solution as discussed above and depicted in the included diagram.
WARNING(S): Do not attempt to charge this AAA Passive Dummy Cell Battery with a battery charger. Doing so may damage the battery charger.
